Advise for a Honeymoon in Mexico?
We are looking to Honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta or Cancun/Mayan Riviera. How will the travel safety for Americans be in June 2010? Is the drug war in Mexico slowing down? Which of these two destinations would be best for a Honeymoon next June? We are looking at the Ocho Cascadas or the Grand Luxxe in PV, but are undecided about Cancun/Mayan Riviera.
Sorry for multiple questions! Thanks for the help.
The drug wars have never been a problem in the tourist areas of Puerto Vallarta or Cancun. All the cartel/cartel and cartel/police fighting has been confined to the towns along the Mexico/US border. So you’ll have nothing to worry about there.
Also, swine flu is a zero worry right now, but you may want to keep an eye on the headlines this fall/winter to see if it rebounds and becomes stronger.
Both PV and Cancun are wonderful destinations. A factor in deciding which one is better for a honeymoon, would be to ask yourself, “Do i want to stick around the resort most of the time or do I want to get out to sight-see, tour, snorkel, bar-hop. and zip-line?” If you want to get out and see things and do things, then Cancun might be the better destination.
